Hard to believe that the end of the scout year is approaching and as with any organization, the end of the year is always hectic.  Here are some important announcements and activities for the rest of the year.

• 5/9 Sat, Conservation Project, 8:00 a.m - 10:00 a.m.
• Veterans Park, 700 veterans Hwy, Levittown, PA
• The Troop will be planting a vegetation to create a rain garden in front of the Sherman Tank at the Veterans Park. These service hours will count towards the camping merit badge and also toward service hours Life Rank.  A conservation project is one of the more difficult requirements to obtain due to the amount of effort it takes plan an coordinate the activity.  Take advantage of this opportunity.

• We will meet at the Our Lady of Grace School and carpool to the staging area in Hulmeville for the Start of the parade.
• The Troop has been requested to participate in a flag retirement ceremony for Hulmeville Borough immediately following the parade. This will be at the park at the intersection of Neshaminy Street & Bellevue Ave.

• The troop is invited to Albert Gutherman's and Xander Papp's Eagle Court of Honor.  This is a special ceremony that will need the help of all troop members for color guard, speaking rolls, and general support for both Albert and Xander's achievement of reaching the rank of Eagle Scout.  Lunch to be provided

Hello Troop 82 families,

I would like to thank everyone who showed up at our last Troop meeting on February 2nd. We don't normally meet on the Monday after a camping trip, but it was the only time available for the members of the Tukwsit Chapter to visit our Troop for the yearly Order of the Arrow (OA) elections.  The OA is considered the honor society of Scouting America. I would like to congratulate the newest members of Troop 82 who were elected into the OA, Jesse Buttari, Ryan Clark, Ryan Hubbard & Josh Lewis. These Scouts were all given a letter informing them of the next steps on their journey.  

Scouts, please work on your advancements to get to First Class so you can be eligible for next years elections.

Troop 82 is having a fundraiser this weekend, selling sticky buns at the Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Hubbard sent out an signup genius for volunteers to sell at the church on Saturday and Sunday. Please reserve your time slot in order to sell Sticky buns after the masses. 

We have a camping trip scheduled for Feb 20,21,22. Please have your Scout or Leader sign up on the Troop website so we can have an accurate head count. 

The Troop has registered to attend summer camp at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation from June 28 through July 4th. Please contact Mr. Buttari to pay for your Scouts attendance for summer camp.

Want to stay updated with all the troop activities?  It's as easy as synching your calender to our website.  See the 'Calendar Sync' link in the User menu to the left for more details and instructions.

All activities should also allow sign-up through the website.  Simply go to the even through the calender and click the 'Register' button to let your leaders know you will be attending.  It's also a good way to keep track of when you participated in camping or service hours.

Hello Troop 82,

This week's special announcements:  This Monday is Memorial Day!  Our troop has traditionally participated in the Penndel/Hulmeville Memorial Day Parade held the Saturday before Memorial Day.  Although participation is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged.  Please muster at the troop room at 8:00 a.m.  We will then car-pool to the parade start in Hulmeville.  Class A with full bling is required.  Furthermore, the troop has been asked to perform a flag ceremony at the end of the parade to retire the old flag at the war memorial in Penndel.  Six or more scouts are needed for this.  I would also like to say that participation in a flag ceremony is a requirement for rank advancement.

I know that this has been in the announcements for the past month but the troop is always in need of volunteers, especially for the upcoming 75th anniversary celebration on June 9th.  Please think of helping out...

Other volunteer positions within the troop that don't really require that much effort:

• Fundraising (stickybuns, greenery, car wash, pancake breakfast, eat-out...pick one to help out with or make one up on your own)
• Summer camp coordinator (register scouts, attend orientation zoom meetings, merit badge registration, YOU DON'T NEED TO ATTEND SUMMER CAMP!)
• Camping adult...give our scoutmaster and assistant scoutmasters a break and come along on one or two monthly camping trips a year

Major volunteer positions that will be required over the 2024-2025 scout year.  These are "Key Three" positions that are required to be a chartered troop in Scouts BSA.  They do have more responsibilities than the other positions but are a very rewarding experience!

• Scoutmaster...scouting experience a plus but not a requirement
• Committee Chair...good organizer and delegator
